Le Tote: May 31, 2014 Review

image

For around $50 a month, Le Tote sends a mix of clothing and accessories. Keep what you like at a discount; send back what you don’t. Shipping is 2-day both ways.

I’m a little disappointed to keep getting warm weather fashion in 80 degree heat. This Sanctuary Racer Jacket was soft and warm. And will be returned unworn.

image

I like these simple, fun, subtle Rose Gold Skull Earrings. I wore them with a couple different outfits this week.

image

I was on the fence about this Daniella Side Slit Tank (it’s pretty sheer and I’m still not sure I can pull off orange with pink and purple highlights), but one of my coworkers told me I looked really nice in it and everything changed. I love my coworkers.

image

The final accessory was this Jade Dynasty Ring. What I love about Le Tote’s rings is they’re adjustable; no sizing required.

image

I’d had this Sophie Batik Blouse in My Closet for a while and was excited to finally get to try it out. It was comfortable and versatile, and cool in the heat. I’d be happy to see it in another box.

Verdict: Aside from the jacket, everything in this box was a success. I started subscribing to Le Tote as part of a heavily discounted Gilt City deal, which runs out this month, but I’ll happily start paying full price. In this tote alone, I tried out $218 worth of clothes and jewelry, and I usually get around three totes a month. Their customer service is a joy to work with, and they remain one of my favorite subscriptions of all time.

Le Tote: May 10, 2014 Review

For around $50 a month, you can rent an unlimited amount of totes (one at a time) containing clothing and accessories from Le Tote. Totes are shipped via 2-day shipping, and you can keep whatever you like for a discount, or send it back.

image

Le Tote also lets you browse their collection and add your favorites to Your Closet, so you end up getting mostly items you’ve favorited, with the occasional surprise from your stylist. I picked this Art Deco Blouse specifically to go with my Popbasic skirt,  and I like the way it turned out. The shirt was comfy and breathable for summer; if I needed more tops, I would have kept it.

image

This Kensie Aubrie Dress.  I am SO in love. It is my favorite thing I have received in any Le Tote so far. It was comfortable, durable, flattering… Confession time: I did some Internet hunting to try to find it at a better price than Le Tote… nope. Le Tote had everyone beat by at least $15. Even so, I can’t justify spending $54 at this exact moment with a trip to Vegas less than a month away but dress… I have my eye on you. (note that this was also part of the First Look program for members: you can request pieces before they’re live on the site – very cool!)

image

I wore it with these Black Riot Stud Earrings for a simple jewelry touch.

image

This Cascade Jewel Necklace was a lot of fun. What I couldn’t manage to capture in a picture was the opalescent shimmer it has, which was my favorite thing about it. I paired it with a white tee for some pop. I’m not a big statement necklace kinda girl, but this was another First Look piece, and I enjoyed being the first to wear it!

image

What I love about Le Tote is I’m able to go outside my comfort zone,  because I know I can send things back. And this BCBGeneration dress was waaay outside of my comfort zone.

image

Especially because I couldn’t get it to zip!

image

I went with one of my Golden Tote staples instead.

Verdict: I can’t stop thinking about that Kensie dress. I kept it in my Le Tote closet and hope it gets sent again. I’d like to try a colored slip underneath next time. I enjoyed the other pieces too (except maybe that last dress!) and am looking forward to my next tote!

Le Tote: May 1, 2014 Review

Le Tote lets you rent clothes and accessories for $50 a month. If you like them, keep them for a discount. If not, you send them back and get a new batch of clothes. Shipping is included and is 2-day both ways. It’s tied with Golden Tote as my favorite subscription.

It is HOT in Seattle. We’re talking 80+ degrees in a city with no air conditioning. So I was a little disappointed to see long sleeves, sweaters, and scarves in my box. I’d had these pieces of my Favorites list for a while so I was excited to get to try them on, but due to the heat, I sent them right back.

When my Le Tote stylist asked me to describe my style, I pointed to this Dina Gray Sweater as an example of something feminine and quirky and very me. It’s soft and fit well. I hope it’s around in the fall (Le Tote cycles their clothing regularly) – I’d love to try it then!

This Deer Printed Scarf looks straight out of Anthropologie. It was fun to style and would work with many different colors and prints. I knotted it into an infinity scarf and wore it with my Popbasic tank.

The Lottie Bell Blouse was a fun, summery orange. Like the other pieces, it was a little too warm to wear in the summer. I’m not sure I can get away with wearing orange anymore now that I have purple highlights.

Like the Lottie Blouse above, the Harper Pleated Blouse is one of the newest additions to the Le Tote lineup and the only top I could wear in the heat. I paired it with boots for a rainy day.

This Arrowhead Druzy Necklace would work for someone who’s a little more jewelry adventurous than I am. I found it long and heavy.

I love that they chose matching earrings. These Jackie Rectangular Studs were incredibly comfortable – I forgot I was wearing them!

Verdict: Le Tote spoils me with unlimited, fun fashion and attentive, prompt customer service. Being able to send and receive clothing and accessories pushes me out of my comfort zone, which sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t, and I love that I can just send it back when it doesn’t. I also deeply appreciate doing less laundry. I bought a few months in advance at a discount through Gilt City but will happily pay full price when it runs out.

Sizing: I was so excited to try everything on, I forgot to check sizing! I think everything was a medium, and everything fit well.

Referrals: I will receive a $25 credit if you sign up for Le Tote. I receive a $10 credit if you purchase a Golden Tote. I receive a $15 credit if you make a purchase at Popbasic.

Le Tote: April 22, 2014 Review

Le Tote is the Netflix of fashion: for $50 a month, they send you clothes and accessories, you wear them, then you send them back. It’s two-day shipping each way, so you can get a few boxes each month. There’s also an accessories-only subscription. You can keep anything you like at a discounted price.

If you keep an eye out on sites like Gilt City or RueLaLa, you’ll often find it on sale for $30-$35 a month.

In my latest Le Tote, I received the Olive + Oak Nautical Blouse in Medium, Gia Layered Tank in Medium, Sugarhill Tex Mix dress in a 6
WIN_20140422_173147
Teardrop Earrings, and Tiny Triangle Necklace. These items were all from my Favorites, so no surprises this time.
WIN_20140423_132556
The blouse fit well and was comfy. I put a cardigan over it later when it got chilly.
WIN_20140422_173547
I paired the earrings with my Priddy by Puella swing dress from Golden Tote. They were fun, but a little too heavy for my ears.
WIN_20140424_095259
The Gia tank was fun and funky. A good fit, but the tweed details and dark color make it more of a winter piece. I added a faux leather jacket to it later.
WIN_20140423_132651
The Tiny Triangle necklace was everything I love in jewelry: delicate, versatile, and gold. I hope to see more items like it in future Le Totes.

This is not the Sugarhill Tex Mex Dress. This is what I wore instead of the Sugarhill Tex Mix Dress. Lately, size 6 and I haven’t been getting along. We could have struck a compromise and I could have worn it unzipped and unable to move my arms or chest or breathe. I don’t like compromises.

Verdict: Le Tote is tied with Golden Tote as my favorite subscription. I enjoy commitment-free style and doing less laundry. They introduce new clothing, accessories, and new site features regularly. I’m still working with them on sizing (I definitely have 8 listed as my dress size!), but have found their customer service kind, prompt, and cheerful.

Sizing: The shirts fit, but I couldn’t zip the dress in a size 6. I asked them for it in an 8 or a 10. I’m 34DD/28/38, 155 lbs.

Referrals: I will receive a $25 credit if you subscribe to Le Tote. You and I will both receive 25% off our next purchase if you join Gilt City. Order on RueLaLa and I will receive a $10 credit. I will receive a $10 credit if you order a Golden Tote.
